Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park and an Afternoon Game Drive
Your safari begins early with departure from Kampala. The drive to Kidepo takes approximately 9 to 10 hours, about 570 km. As you approach the park, you will be welcomed and then head to a booked lodge. After checking in and having lunch, you will have some time to relax before heading out for your first afternoon game drive in the Narus Valley, the park’s wildlife-rich heart.
The Narus Valley is famous for its permanent water sources, which attract animals year-round. As you explore the savannah, you may encounter Large herds of buffalo, elephants, zebras, giraffes, elands, and Jackson’s hartebeest, among others. Kidepo is known for its healthy lion population, and sightings here often feel intimate due to the park’s low visitor numbers. You may even spot cheetahs. As the sun sets, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

After the game drive, return to your lodge for a late breakfast. Before departing the park, you will visit a traditional homestead in the nearby Karamojong community.
