A 4 days Murchison falls national park safari takes you to the biggest national park in Uganda and this park covers an area of about 3893 square kilometers and is positioned in the Northwestern region of Uganda. Murchison Falls National Park is a shelter for a diverse wildlife population, including birds, mammals, primates, and many more. This park shelters about 76 mammal species and approximately 500 bird species. The park also shelters 4 of the big five animals, which are leopards, lions, elephants, and buffaloes. Murchison Falls National Park is renowned worldwide for having the most powerful waterfalls, known as Murchison Falls, which attract visitors to this national park. Detailed itinerary

Day 1 : Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls national park

On day 1 of the safari, a representative guide from Chopper tours and travel will link up with you at a hotel in Kampala and set off for your journey to Murchison Falls national park. You will have a stopover on your way for lunch and then proceed with your journey. The journey to Murchison Falls takes approximately 5 hours and you will have a stopover at the Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. At this place, you will get to see the rhinos and also other wildlife species that are sheltered at this place You will then proceed to Murchison Falls national park where you will check into a lodge and relax

Later, you will receive dinner and return to the lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 2 : Morning game drive and a boat cruise

On day 2 of the safari, you will have breakfast and then be briefed on the rules of a game drive at the park headquarters. You will then go for a game drive with an armed ranger guide and this drive may take about 3–4 hours, depending on the guide. In the morning game drive, you will be able to spot animals like elephants, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, kobs, giraffes, and waterbucks, among others. The guide will then take you back to the lodge, where you can freshen up before receiving lunch.

After lunch, you will return to the park headquarters for a briefing about the boat cruise before setting off for the cruise to the bottom of the falls. The boat cruise will last approximately 2 hours and will provide opportunities to see various wildlife, including hippos and crocodiles. You will also see numerous animals on the shore taking water, like buffaloes, elephants, kobs, and others. You will also spot various bird species, like the African fish eagle, the shoebill stork, the African jacana, the swamp flycatcher, the Senegal thick-knee, and others, while on the boat cruise, and then the guide will transfer you back to the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking

On day 3 of the safari, you will have breakfast and then get to the park headquarters for briefing. Before you go on a chimp trek, you’ll learn what you need and what you can and can’t do. After the briefing, you will head to Budongo Forest with an armed ranger guide to conduct a chimpanzee trek. You will come across other wildlife species as you search for the chimpanzees and it may take you anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours to locate them, depending on their location in the forest. You will spend an hour with the chimps once you find them, watching them play, breastfeed, eat, and interact. The guide will take you back to the lodge after you take photos and videos of your time with the chimps.

At the lodge, we will eat lunch and then talk to the guides about the park. Later in the evening, you will have dinner and then head to bed.

Day 4 : Nature walk and transfer back to Kampala

On day 4 of the safari, you will eat breakfast and then go to the park HQ with the guide. At the park headquarters, you will be briefed and then you will set off with an armed ranger guide on a nature walk in the park. The Murchison Falls National Park offers nature walks in locations such as Rabongo Forest and Kaniyo Pabidi Forest, among others. You will spot various animal and bird species as you trek through these forests and you will also notice several tree species. The views of the wildlife on a nature walk are very close to your sight, which enables you to observe the animals clearly.

The guide will then transfer you back to the lodge and you will check out with your luggage. You will then set off to Kampala, where you can either stay at a hotel for the night or head directly to Entebbe airport for your flight the next day.
